Related?

Aaron and I had a fun photo shoot with Kade yesterday. We were joking that every time I have a studio shoot, Kade has his pictures taken too....but it isn't a joke, it's true. Today in his "photo shoot" I took almost 200 pictures. I need to quit. This kid will NOT be able to complain that we don't have any pictures of him as a baby.... Anyway, we were looking at the pictures we took today, and we were reminded of another picture we had seen in the past. Obviously they aren't exactly the same, but they are pretty similar. Aaron wanted me to post this because he said it was too freaky not to share. Enjoy!

Scary

I promise we are better parents than this....

We were taking family pictures last Saturday for my cousin Lisa, and we decided to do some on the train tracks. Madie kept saying, but what if a train comes, all while we were walking to the tracks. So I told her, I don't think that trains use this track very often. Less than 1 minute later, no joke, we hear the chimes warning us of an oncoming train. Aaron grabs Kade's carseat from out of his stroller (note picture) and we move as quickly as possible to a safe spot just next to the train tracks. It was frightening, that's for sure. You could see the tracks bow while the train was going over them. I was sure it was going to derail and kill us all right there... Poor Madie tried so hard not to cry after that, she was so scared, but we ended up getting some pretty cute pictures there. Here is one for a preview...

Pumpkinland

Some of my friends and I decided it would be fun to take our babies to a "pumpkin patch". We had Marisa with her little boy Corbin, Kathleen with her little girl Lucy, and then Kade. We also had honorary mother Erin. No child yet, but still just as fun. We missed our friend Ana and little Alex, but the little kiddos got to have play time while we had fun talk time. I took a lot of pictures, and realized tonight that I am a retarded and forgot to take one of all us girls. I guess we will just have to have another play date....

We liked these ginormous pumpkins and wanted to put the kids next to them to show just how ginormous, it was too sunny and they didn't want to look at the camera, but you can still see just how huge the pumpkins were....
Lovestruck.... It's actually hilarious because a lot of the time Kade was reaching for Lucy, and he tried giving her kisses, and then when we were taking the picture in front of the Pumpkinland sign he was laying on her shoulder.....

I liked this one because they are in order of age. Corbin 1 year, Lucy 10 months, and Kade 5 1/2 months.

We picked out a cute little pumpkin.

I love this shot, courtesy of Gerin.

Happy Birthday Mees!

Today is Marisa's birthday and all of these pictures are ancient! They are all from her wedding or right before her wedding almost 3 years ago! Anyway, we don't see each other very often, but I love her guts! I hope you have a great birthday!

Fat...

This post may offend some people, so reader discretion is advised...

Just in case anyone was wondering, this is fat. Fat Albert is fat. I am so sick and tired of hearing healthy people say they are fat. There is a HUGE difference between someone that is healthy, and someone that is fat. I looked up fat on dictionary.com, this was the first definition...

1. having too much flabby tissue; corpulent; (FLABBY tissue)

Needless to say there is definitely a difference between being fat and being obese. Seriously though, if you don't like what you look like, don't say you are fat unless you REALLY ARE! It just makes you sound ignorant. Now I love all of my friends and family dearly, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, I really have just heard it a lot lately. I hate it. I have always hated it, my whole life. I realize a lot of people out there are just fishing for compliments, which is another story, but still. It's ridiculous. So many of you look fantastic, and should not be so degrading toward yourselves. Here is a quote from a YW lesson Loving Ourselves and Others

A person who loves herself in the right way knows that she is a child of God, that God loves her, and that she has many talents. But she knows that other people are also children of God and that she should use her talents to serve them.

“If you truly love yourself, you will remember that you are a physical, mental, and spiritual being. Loving yourself as God wants you to means that you use wisdom in protecting your life and conserving your health in order to complete your mission on earth. …

“Comparing yourself to others can … result in either feelings of inferiority or superiority. … Accept yourself as the unique person that you are without comparing yourself to others. Doing this will help you love yourself properly without conceit” (Clark Swain, “Q & A,” New Era, Mar. 1979, p. 38).

Health is a huge issue, of course we all need to be healthy, but I think you get my point. I've heard many a general authority say "in moderation". If you have a piece of pie, don't kill yourself over it. You can still be healthy and not constantly worry about what you are eating. If you are not eating pie all day everyday, you'll probably be OK! Enjoy your life! Have a bowl of ice cream! Then go exercise! Not everyone looks the same, not everyone is SUPPOSED to look the same. So you might be healthy, and not able to get down to a size 2, or size 4 or even size 6 or 8 or whatever, it doesn't mean you are fat. I might get into a lot of trouble with this post as far as friends and family go, but I needed to speak my mind.

Question of the Week....

What do you do to ease stress?

Yesterday....

Kade turned 5 months old yesterday. It's crazy! I can't believe he is almost half a year! Here are just a few recent happenings here, and some things he has been doing lately.

With the cold weather QUICKLY approaching, we realized we didn't have a lot of warm winter clothing for him. This hat is one of the recent things we purchased to keep our baby warm, I think he looks so cute in it!

This is my favorite of his new tricks. He holds his own bottles now, it is so great!

This is just a funny picture. He thinks he can eat everything. I'm sure he's looking at the camera thinking it looks like a tasty treat....

He's looking older, and he can sit up by himself.

Again, he thinks he can eat everything....

He's eating solids! Yay! Except, he already wants to do it himself. He often grabs the spoon and puts it in his mouth all by himself. And then this happens....

Conference Tradition

For every October General Conference, Aaron and I have started our own tradition of going up the a canyon and listening to conference on the radio while enjoying the beauty of the earth! This year it was definitely raining a lot. The rain didn't prevent us from keeping this tradition though. We got bundled up, and headed out. My sister Kelsey was in town for conference so she came with us, and then Aaron's sister Serena is here going to BYU, so she came with us too. I started up loading pictures, but it just took way to long, because there are so many, so I created a picasa album. Click HERE to view the album.

Kade and I went for a walk in the rain.

Our car next to Bridal Veil Falls. We spent most of the time at Bridal Veil Park, but we couldn't see the falls, and I wanted to take a few pictures.

I took this as we were driving out of the canyon
When we got home, we were so tired we crashed. I don't know what exhausted us so much, but we were so tired!

Grapes and Grape Juice

Yesterday my Aunt Holly, Aunt Jeny, cousin Shannon and I had a fun-filled day of grape juice making! We started out the day by going to Aunt Julie's house and picking grapes, there were a lot, and I am not a fan of spiderwebs! It was still fun though. We got so many grapes, something like 30 quarts??? Holly remembers not me. While we waited for the grapes to juice we had a lot of fun playing the Wii fit, and Boom Blox. Oh good times....

Holly, Jeny and Shannon picking the grapes

Kade was very patient the whole time. He got a little sad at the end, but then he fell asleep.
I particularly loved the little mini-clusters of grapes. They were cute!
Shannon enjoyed helping pick....I mean eat the grapes!

The almost final product. These are all our buckets filled to the rim in grapes and they smelled delicious, and tasted delicious, and the grape juice is also delicious!
