My Magic Curling Iron.

Let me first give you a little background. I have straight hair. And I'm talkin' seriously STRAIGHT hair. The kind of straight that's a blessing when you leave the house with wet hair because it dries nice and straight. However, it's also the kind of straight that makes you want to cry because you can't ever change up with just a curling iron or hot rollers. (Or in my case even a perm.)

When was a young lass, it curled fantastically! Permed, fantastically. Then I got older. It stopped curling. It got straighter. Sophomore year I got a perm. Even with a whole-lotta product and appropriately applied heat, it was wavy at best. The years went on and I tried and tried and tried to no avail. I tried a million different curling irons, hair sprays, hair product and tips from others that just couldn't understand the lack of curl. So I gave up. I learned to accept defeat. My hair would never curl and I would be OK with that.

Right before our anniversary this year we were shopping at the mall. A kiosk employee of a company called HerStyler approached me and in broken English asked if he could curl my hair for me. I laughed and said sure, knowing in my head the outcome would be distressing on this eager salesman. At first I was a little surprised when it curled so quickly and easily with just the curling iron. No product at all. I had left the house with wet hair that night so it really didn't have ANYTHING in it. Not even dirt. It was clean and as soft as ever. I was still skeptical. I had been able to get it to curl like that before, but it would be straight again within 20 min. Just like before.

However, he curled my whole head and the curls didn't move. They were perfect. He ran his fingers through it AND IT STILL LOOKED CURLY! So he had me hooked. I had to have this iron of amazingness and in fact I'd have two. Two different sizes. He sprayed a little hairspray all over. IT STAYED UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING! I slept on it and my hair was still curly the next morning. It's crazy I tell you.

The only explanation I can come up with is black magic, but I'll take it.

As you can tell, I'm still practicing but this is proof. This is 4 hours after the initial curling this morning. Seriously magic.

So pretty! I've got straight hair too but not as straight as yours. I've never been able to get my hair to curl in a pretty way, just ugly ringlets. How much was it?

you have such pretty hair. I would have given ANYTHING to have your hair when I was a younger lass! Now, I've accepted and embraced the curliness. Glad you found a way to do both now :)
